Learn how to get the international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever

If you are planning an international trip to know that maybe it will be necessary to introduce an international certificate of vaccination and Prophylaxis (CIVP) attesting that you have taken the vaccine against yellow fever. The measure is a safety standard that certain countries establish when receiving tourists from regions with a history of problems related to the disease. The Brazil is a country of high risk of transmission because the mosquito Aëdes aegypti, besides transmitting dengue fever is also the transmitter yellow fever.

We had to take our when we took a trip to Punta Cana because our flight was scaled by Panama, a country that at the time required the vaccine. Panama currently does not require more although it is recommended.

We have already made several trips to countries that require the vaccine and in none of them have asked us the card but it's nice to ensure because it costs nothing to get the certificate.

If you have not taken the vaccine just go to any State or municipal health center closest to your residence and take it for free. Noting that for the vaccine to take effect it must be taken at least 10 days before the trip. The vaccine is valid for 10 years.

ATTENTION: People on treatment with corticosteroids, chemotherapy or radiotherapy; people allergic to the vaccine components; carriers of the HIV virus; pregnant women and babies younger than 6 months cannot get the vaccine and have the right to the certificate of exemption from vaccination (explained below.)

After vaccination simply bring proof of vaccination and a photo ID to one of the centres of guidance of travellers.  To expedite service do before registering on the site of ANVISA.

There are 88 guidance centres of travellers located throughout the national territory (see list here), being 65 administered by ANVISA, 18 by the unified health system (SUS), and five more in the scope of the private sector. There are posts in most Brazilian airports (see here the list of stations by State).

Minors must be accompanied by parents or guardians, and to have at hand the birth certificate.

Important to note that in the proof of vaccination need to be named, complete batch of vaccine manufacturer and the vaccination date. You also need the record signature and name of the vacinador, as well as identification of the unit where the vaccine.

The CIVP is ready on time.

If you miss the international certificate just ask the duplicate in any service centre of Anvisa.
